Questions on Scope and Historical Data for Team Ranking

Hello, I've got a couple of questions concerning the ranking criteria. Firstly, I'd like to understand the scope of the ranking. Is it global, covering teams from major leagues like LEC, LCK, and also from regional or academy leagues? The reason I'm asking is that teams from major leagues rarely, if ever, compete directly against regional or academy teams, making a direct comparison challenging.

Secondly, when it comes to the timeframe for the ranking, are we limited to the current year's tournaments, or is historical performance also a consideration? If the latter, how many years back should we be looking into, especially concerning regional and academy leagues?

Any clarification would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

    Great questions!
The goal is to create a system that enables ranking teams competing in global events like MSI and Worlds, so you only need to rank teams in MSI/Worlds qualifying regions, but we'd love to hear about any results that indicate otherwise!
In terms of the timeframe you'd like to consider, that's up to you. The model is meant to be forward-looking, enabling people to understand how teams stack up against each other for upcoming tournaments, but you may find it useful to evaluate your system against previous years' tournaments to see if you think the model provides results you feel accurately capture the competitive landscape at that time.
